BMW Loans vehicles to the Red Cross.

LOAN OF VEHICLES TO THE RED CROSS.

BMW Group South Africa has loaned 17 BMW vehicles, pre-dominantly locally built BMW X3 models, to the South African Red Cross Society to help it reach marginalised and poor communities that have been badly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to the provision of screening and contact tracing, the cars continue to assist with the distribution of hot meals and food parcels, the dissemination of information in six languages, the elimination of coronavirus myths, and the provision of psycho-social support to volunteers and emergency personnel engaged in anti-COVID-19 operations.

This partnership and others like it form part of our global COVID-19 response which includes a renewed dedication to the health and well-being of our customers, colleagues, partners and surrounding communities.

Hospital and Clinic Upgrade

HOSPITAL AND CLINIC UPGRADE.

In co-operation with the German government, BMW Group South Africa secured a R76m investment into the upgrading of 9 hospitals and 4 community clinics across three provinces (Gauteng, North West and Limpopo). It included 750 beds, an ambulance, an upgrade to Accident and Emergency facilities, additional testing and screening facilities to support our communities when they need it the most.

Improvements include the upgrade for the Soshanguve Combined Clinic, near the company’s Rosslyn manufacturing plant, to a testing and screening centre. The company has provided a fully equipped ambulance and locally built BMW X3 models for transporting patients to the various hospitals in the region.

It’s testament not only to our dedication in fighting the spread of coronavirus in the country but also our continued effort to ensure the health and well-being of our customers, colleagues, partners and surrounding communities.
