Discover everything you need for a smooth vehicle handover. We guide you through the easy process of returning your lease vehicle. Follow our tips for a hassle-free and transparent return.
Step 1. Advance check.
Arrange an appointment for this with your BMW dealer four to six weeks before your contract ends. Your dealer will assess the condition of your current BMW and provide detailed information. This informs you about what repair, servicing and maintenance work is required before handover.
Step 2. Repair any damage.
When you return your BMW, we expect normal signs of wear and tear. During the vehicle check, you'll receive a detailed report highlighting any damage beyond the usual. This report will list the damage found and recommend repairs. Reach out to your BMW dealer or insurance company to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Step 3. Return your BMW.
Schedule your vehicle handover appointment. Ensure your BMW meets the terms of your contract for a smooth process. A clean car, inside and out, guarantees a hassle-free experience. Your BMW dealer will check your odometer reading against the agreed mileage.
Exterior damage we have to charge.
Discover what exterior damage to your BMW may incur charges. Get a clear understanding of the costs involved.
Bumpers and side protection.
Chargeable: Cracks, fissures and scratches longer than 25 mm and not in the base material. Easily visible damage and parts that are missing or not properly attached.
Windows and lighting equipment.
Chargeable: Breaks or cracks in the glass, and stone chips that impair the driver’s view. Also broken headlights, rear lights and housings. We can only accept windows approved by BMW if the windscreen has been replaced.
Tyres and rims.
Chargeable: Scratches longer than 50 mm or deeper than 10 mm in alloy wheels. Also damage to wheels, spokes, hubs, tyre sidewalls, tread and rims. Tyres with a tread depth of less than 2 mm. Your tyres and rims should meet the specifications in the user guide. If they do not, please replace them before handover.
Body.
Chargeable: Dents longer than 10 mm or that have damaged the paint surface, and dents in the roof. Also scratches longer than 25 mm, or which reach the primer or metal.
Paintwork.
Chargeable: Colour deviations in trim panels or changes to the original colour. Stickers and decals? Please have these removed by a professional.
Chargeable damage to the interior.

Upholstery.
Chargeable: Tears, cuts, burn holes, singe marks, holes and peeling material. Also deformed parts and detached seals in doors and covers.
Mechanical parts.
Chargeable: Necessary repairs due to service intervals being exceeded. Damage to mechanical vehicle components.
Electronics.
Chargeable: Necessary repairs due to service intervals being exceeded. Damage to electronic vehicle components.

Official data for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, power consumption and electric range was determined in accordance with the prescribed measuring procedure and corresponds to European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the applicable version. For ranges, data determined as per WLTP takes into account any optional equipment (available on the German market in this case). For vehicles that have been newly type approved since 1 January 2021, only the official data according to WLTP exists. In addition, NEDC values are deleted from the certificates of conformity as of 1 January 2023 by EC regulation 2022/195.
