Driving dynamics and efficiency in the BMW 1 Series.

THRILL SEEKER.Driving dynamics and efficiency in the BMW 1 Series.

Exuberantly sporty. Relaxed in consumption. Thanks to the impressive torque of its high-revving turbo engines, the BMW 1 Series delivers spirited and incredibly agile driving moments. It does so above all in combination with the optional Adaptive M suspension and Variable sport steering, which is also available on request. And whether travelling in the city, across country or on the motorway, the 1 Series happens to be efficient too. In ECO PRO mode, it has an astonishingly low fuel demand, which will leave you feeling completely relaxed at the filling station.

Conquers the road in no time at all. It’s hardly surprising because the BMW 1 Series inspires with a large number of powerful engines, optionally with all-wheel drive and a perfect 50:50 axle weight distribution – for breathtaking, precise handling and an exciting performance. A host of optional components additionally unleash powerful dynamics and sporting agility: adaptive suspension, eight-speed Steptronic transmission, variable sport steering and a Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine – unique in this class of vehicle – offer unique driving fun.

The heart of every BMW 1 Series is the engine, and the current range of engines for the series offers a suitable drive system for all requirements. This is because all petrol and diesel engines in the BMW EfficientDynamics engine family – regardless of whether they have 3, 4 or 6 cylinders – impress with their spirited performance thanks to innovative BMW TwinPower Turbo technology – even in the low range of revs. At the same time, they display increased efficiency and even more driving dynamics. Sheer driving pleasure included.

The optional 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission ensures maximum levels of dynamics, efficiency and comfort. Limited engine speed transitions between the gears improve the acceleration values while limited engine speed transitions between the gears permit barely noticeable gear shifts. At the same time, the engine is maintained at the ideal level of revs for optimum power development while noise level is reduced. The eighth gear reduces the revolutions of the engine at high speeds, thus lowering fuel consumption and CO2 emissions too.

  • Sport+ Mode

The right choice for a decidedly sports style of driving at the limits and the best possible performance is the SPORT+ Mode. This is because the minimised rev intervals between the gears enable acceleration with an especially high level of thrust. Furthermore, the DTC function (Dynamic Traction Control) comes into action, giving the drive wheels even better slip.

  • Sport Mode

In combination with the Adaptive M suspension, the SPORT mode offers sportier suspension tuning combined with a stiffer damper setting. It thus ensures a more spontaneous response from drive system and steering as well as unlimited driving fun.

  • Comfort Mode

COMFORT Mode is available for relaxed and easy travelling during which a smooth gear-shifting programme with a lower level of revs is activated. In combination with the Adaptive M suspension, it ensures that any unevenness on the road remains practically unnoticed.

  • EcoPro Mode

In ECO PRO Mode, the efficiency is increased by avoiding downshifts and the coasting function is activated, which allows the vehicle to roll along with especially low resistance by disengaging the engine. This reduces consumption considerably and significantly increases the range.

Less fuel consumption. More driving pleasure. That is BMW Efficient Dynamics. It covers an innovative technology package that affect the drive system, energy management and the vehicle concept. The result is lower fuel consumption and fewer CO2 emissions with more dynamics and driving fun at the same time. A standard feature in every BMW – and of course in the BMW 1 Series as well.

Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

BMW 125i 5-door:
Fuel consumption in l/100 km* (combined): [6.1]
CO2 emissions in g/km* (combined): [130]

BMW M140i 5-door:
Fuel consumption in l/100 km* (combined): [7.1]
CO2 emissions in g/km* (combined): [163]

Consumption data is determined in accordance to the ECE driving cycle.

Further information about the official fuel consumption and the official specific CO2 emissions for new passenger automobiles can be found in the 'New Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption and CO2 Emission Guidelines', which are available free of charge at all sales outlets.

The figures do not refer to an individual vehicle and do not constitute part of the offering; they are intended solely as a basis for comparison of the different vehicle types. CO2 emissions occurring during the production and provision of the fuel or other energy sources are disregarded when determining the CO2 emissions in accordance with Directive 1999/94/EC.

Figures for automatic gearbox displayed in brackets

*The published fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures are established according to legislated technical specifications (UNECE Regulation 101/UN Regulation 83 and SANS 20101 standards), which sets out the procedures that are used to measure the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. The claimed figures are established using specific tests under standardised, carefully controlled conditions and may differ from consumption achieved under real world conditions with the influences of altitude, road surface, geographic conditions, vehicle options, temperature, humidity, tyres size and driving behaviour amongst others.
