The BMW TwinPower Turbo engines in the BMW X3.

The overall versatility of the BMW X3 is underlined by the petrol and diesel engines, which show themselves to be genuine all-rounders. Increased efficiency and dynamics are provided by a combination of the latest injection technologies and fully variable performance control with innovative turbocharger technology. The result is high performance with astonishingly low fuel consumption and emission values. One particularly efficient member of this line-up is the latest-generation BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine.

BMW TWINPOWER TURBO PETROL ENGINES.

Top of the range among the petrol engines for the BMW X3 is the six-cylinder in-line in the BMW X3 xDrive35i. The high-thrust power unit provides an impressive maximum torque of 400 Nm, even at an engine speed of 1,200 rpm. A power output of 225 kW catapults the vehicle effortlessly from 0 to 100 km in 5.6 s.
The maximum speed is 245 km/h. Thanks to innovative technologies from BMW EfficientDynamics, fuel consumption remains impressively moderate at 8.3 l/100km, as do the CO₂ emissions of 193 g/km.

Impulsive power build-up, a spontaneous response and maximum efficiency characterise the four-cylinder petrol engines in the BMW X3. BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with TwinScroll turbocharger, Valvetronic, double VANOS and High Precision Injection allows outstanding performance with extremely moderate consumption. With 180 kW, the powerful engine in the BMW X3 xDrive28i generates a torque of 350 Nm from the 2-litre capacity at engine speeds from 1,250 rpm. Top speed is 230 km/h, fuel consumption is 7.0* l/100 km and CO₂ emissions are a mere 162* g/km. The power unit in the BMW X3 xDrive20i supplies an output of 135 kW, which unleashes up to 270 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption remains low at 7.4* l/100 km (xDrive20i; with 8-speed Automatic Transmission Steptronic 6.9* l/100 km), as do the CO₂ emissions at 173* g/km (8-speed Automatic Transmission Steptronic 161* g/km).

BMW TWINPOWER TURBO DIESEL ENGINES.

BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines boast agile dynamics with low fuel consumption and emission figures. This is guaranteed by the BMW EfficientDynamics technologies package with common rail direct injection, multistage turbocharging and variable turbine geometry.
In the BMW X3 xDrive30d, the engine develops an output of 190 kW and supplies the maximum torque of 560 Nm at just 1,500 rpm. When accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h, this BMW X3 completes the task with ease in 5.9 s, while fuel consumption remains at a modest 5.7* l/100 km and CO₂ emissions are only 149* g/km.

Innovative BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, common rail direct injection and aluminium lightweight construction make it all possible. The redeveloped four-cylinder diesel engine in the BMW X3 combines impressive performance with a further improvement in fuel economy and emissions. In contrast, the slightly larger engine of the BMW X3 xDrive20d achieves a maximum speed of 210 km/h and covers the dash from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 s. Once again consumption and CO₂ emissions remain extremely moderate with figures of 5.0* l/100 km and 131*g/km (for 8-speed Automatic  Transmission Steptronic) speaking for themselves.
