BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps in the BMW X5 M.

Always keep one step ahead of the rest with the wide range of BMW ConnectedDrive options. With Services & Apps, you can be sure of across-the-board connectivity for your BMW X5 M. Not only do you have in-car access to information, entertainment and services, you can also discover the motorsport functions of the BMW M Laptimer app and get the low-down on traffic situations in advance with Real Time Traffic Information.

CONNECTED DRIVE SERVICES.

The ConnectedDrive Services option forms the basis for the BMW ConnectedDrive functions, which provide the driver with a wide range of information, entertainment and service features while on the road.
These include BMW Online, which provides access to current, localised information such as weather, news, an online search powered by GoogleTM and also office functions. In the Applications menu, it's possible to assemble an individualised array of services such as webcams, fuel price information, parking information, as well as travel and hotel guides.

BMW M LAPTIMER APP.

With the BMW M Laptimer app, driving data from the racetrack can be accurately recorded, curve by curve, and then analysed with the aim of improving driving performance.
The app collects precise data from the BMW sensors and shows selected values in the Control Display. The system is operated via the iDrive Controller.

While it is recording, the BMW M Laptimer app shows the GPS position, speed, forward acceleration, lateral acceleration (G-force), lap times and acceleration up to a certain speed (e.g. from 0 to 100 km/h). Depending on the vehicle equipment and model year, factors measured may also include the accelerator position, steering angle, deceleration, revolutions per minute and gear, as well as fuel consumption.

The recorded data can be posted as snapshots to social networks, or saved and sent via email.

CONCIERGE SERVICES.

Concierge Services from BMW ConnectedDrive gives you a taste of what it's like to have your own personal butler. At the touch of a button the driver is connected with the BMW Call Centre agents who are available as "personal assistants" while you're on the road.

Whether you're looking for a particular restaurant, the nearest ATM or an emergency pharmacy; a BMW Call Centre agent is there to help and can send address details directly to the navigation system, on demand.

The Concierge Services operate independently of the driver's mobile phone and are available at home and abroad round-the-clock, seven days a week at no extra cost. Concierge Services are only available in conjunction with ConnectedDrive Services.

REAL TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION.

Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) provides the most up-to-date traffic information at all times. Precise details about the time and duration of hold-ups are relayed to provide almost instantaneous traffic information about highways, country roads and main roads, as well as numerous urban routes.
Intelligent alternative route suggestions help the driver reach their destination as efficiently as possible. The data is drawn from such sources as anonymous movement profiles from the GPS data of vehicle fleets, smartphone apps and police reports, and also takes into account established traffic patterns such as peak commute times.

The traffic information is clearly presented, with the roads displayed in green, yellow, orange and red.

REMOTE SERVICES.

With Remote Services and the free My BMW Remote App (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play store), various vehicle-related functions, such as locking and unlocking the car, can be operated remotely.
It is also possible to directly transmit selected destinations found using the Google™ search engine. In addition, the car's location can be shown within a radius of 1.5 km. To use this feature, customers simply need to activate Remote Services once in the "My BMW ConnectedDrive" customer portal at www.bmw-connecteddrive.co.za

INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY CALL.

The intelligent emergency call guarantees fast, targeted assistance round-the-clock as well as support from trained staff in the driver's native language, even when they're abroad.
If an accident takes place involving the activation of an airbag or the belt tensioners, an intelligent emergency call is automatically issued. Relevant details such as the exact position of the car, the severity of the accident and the possible risk of injury to occupants are transmitted to the BMW Call Center via the car’s built-in SIM card, i.e. independent of a private mobile phone. The BMW Call Center will inform the nearest rescue coordination center and provide assistance over the phone until the rescue services arrive. The emergency call can also be triggered manually in case other road users require help, for example.

Unlimited access to the world wide web.

The Internet option provides access to the web on the car's high-resolution Control Display. So the driver can use the internet just like on their computer at home.
URLs can be entered easily and conveniently using the iDrive Controller, or selected from the bookmark list for fast access. With the data flat rate for internet use, users can surf the web directly from the car nationwide (no roaming). The Control Display can be used to access the internet while travelling at a speed of up to 4 km/h. With rear-seat entertainment Professional, passengers in the rear can also use the internet via flat screens integrated into the front seats.
