Comfort in the BMW 5 Series Sedan.

The more comfortable you are, the better your journey will be. Comfort in the BMW 5 Series Sedan begins when you get in and stays with you long after you’ve left the vehicle.

Comfort Access features are innovative and easy to operate. They include contactless opening of the tailgate, which allows you to open the doors of your car and start the engine without having to use the car key.

The key, which may be in your trouser pocket or briefcase, is automatically recognised as soon as you approach your car.

Once the door has been automatically unlocked, you can get in and start the engine by pressing the Start/Stop button. This optional equipment also includes contactless opening and closing of the tailgate. A short wave of the foot just below the middle of rear bumper triggers an impulse that activates the remote unlocking and opening of the luggage compartment. Sensors installed at different heights on the rear bumper are used to detect the person trying to open the luggage compartment. Access authorisation is only granted if the system detects that you have the key with you. Once this has been established, the luggage compartment unlocks automatically and the tailgate opens without even being touched.

Functional reliability is guaranteed thanks to key authentication. Objects lying under the vehicle, or even animals wandering about under the bumper, cannot interfere with the system.

The multifunctional instrument display, in Black Panel Technology, with a 10.2'' screen offers an impressive visual presentation of the driving experience. Comfort, ECO PRO and Sport mode with their specific features can be displayed in the instrument cluster, with adapted colouring and graphics in each case.

Rear-seat entertainment Professional comprises two separate 9.2'' colour screens (tilt-adjustable) and DVD drive. Navigation and internet access are available during travel (mobile phone contract required). Operations are performed via remote control. There are connections for MP3 player, games consoles and headphones (also wireless).
