The BMW TwinPower Turbo engine features a lightweight design. With its TwinScroll turbocharger, it produces a mighty 225 kW, resulting in a torque of 400 Nm and a top speed of 250 km/h. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. And that with impressively low fuel consumption and emission values of 6.4 l/100 km and 149 g/km CO2 (all values in accordance with EU test cycle, depending on the tyre format selected).

The second component of the performance hybrid is the 40 kW electric motor. It can drive the car fully electrically up to a maximum speed of 60 km/h. It supports the combustion power train when overtaking, on uphill gradients and in other driving situations where spontaneous acceleration is required. The electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion high-performance battery via the rear axle.
